Sherwin-Williams, Color Blending
1. Prepare the damaged area in the usual manner using recommended undercoats and sanding procedures. Final sanding should be done with 320* grit dry or 600* grit wet.
2. Adjacent panels or blend areas should be cleaned with soap and water, followed by the appropriate Sherwin-Williams surface cleaner.
3. Using a gray nylon scuff pad and USP-90 Liquid Scuffing Gel scuff sand the entire panel or blend area. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
4. Re-clean the entire area with the appropriate Sherwin-Williams surface cleaner.
5. Re-clean the entire area with the appropriate Sherwin-Williams surface cleaner.
( * Use P400 dry or P800 wet when using "P" graded sandpapers.)
1. Mask the adjacent panel(s) or blend area(s) with masking paper. Only expose the repair area.
2. Spray the repair area with 2 coats of color, extending the second coat beyond the first coat. Be sure to allow each coat to become hand slick before applying the next coat.
3. Before applying the last coat of color, remove the masking paper from the blend area. At 50 psi, apply 1-2 wet coats of properly reduced and catalyzed CC-633 (4:1:1) over the prepared blend area. The clearcoat should extend from the end of the panel right up to the edge of the wet Ultra One Stage color. Do Not Spray Clear On The Fresh Color.
4. Apply the final coat of color, blending into the still wet clear. Extend the color into the blend area, arcing your spray gun at the end of each stroke. At this point, it may require an additional 2-3 short passes to further blend or taper the color. Use half-trigger when extending the blend.
5. After the finish has thoroughly cured it is ready for delivery.
